Čína bude nakupovať MMF zlato

Je dosť pravdepodobné, že z dôvodu diverzifikácie svojich rezerv bude Čína nakupovať časť zlata odpredávaného MMF. A šepká sa, že vraj za juany, nie za USD. Od roku 2003 zvýšila Čína svoje zlaté rezervy o 76%.

China may purchase some of the 403.3 tonnes of gold being offered by the International Monetary Fund, Market News International has reported.

China would consider the purchase to diversify its reserves if the price was right and the potential return was relatively high, the report said, citing an unidentified government source.

There was no indication China was seeking to buy all of the gold on offer, the report said.

It was rumored that China and Russia are interested in purchasing the IMF gold, but it appears that this would be at a discount. Statements from a Chinese commercial banker indicated that the government is more interested in buying gold in yuan from domestic producers (majority are state-run) rather than buying gold in the open market with dollar reserves.

"It's very possible that China buys from the IMF and it's also possible the country buys all of it given its vast forex reserves and relatively low gold holdings," Qu Mingyi, a gold dealer at the Bank of China said. Buying by central banks would reduce the impact of the IMF sale on the market, Mr Qu added.

China, the world's biggest gold producer, has increased reserves by 76 per cent since 2003 and has the fifth-biggest holdings by country.
