Utah, ako prvý americký štát začal používať federálne vydané zlaté a strieborné mince ako oficiálne platidla (nevzťahuje sa na zahraničné mince). Aj napriek rekordným cenám zlata sa pri platení berie do úvahy len ich nominálna hodnota.
US state Utah began using gold and silver coins as official tender after Governor Gary Herbert last week signed a law which has made Utah the first U.S. state to recognize federally issued gold and silver coins as legal tender.
However, the gold and silver coins are still only worth their face value despite record gold and silver prices.
