EU pripravená pre jadrovú spoluprácu s Indiou

V rokoch 2007-2013 EU poskytne Indii pomoc vo výške $628,21 mil. pre energetický a zdravotnícky sektor.

The European Union has said it is prepared to pursue civilian nuclear cooperation with India, which has a civilian nuclear deal with the United States.

'We are prepared to explore with India the possibilities of cooperation in civil nuclear energy and it will be done with the concurrence of the International Energy Commission,' Jean Christian Remond, head of the India, Nepal and Bhutan department of the EU, told a group of visiting journalists from London.

mond said the EU will provide India economic assistance worth $628.21 million for the energy and health sectors between 2007 and 2013.

India and the United States signed a deal last year on civilian nuclear cooperation. The agreement was controversial because India, which possesses nuclear weapons, is not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The Bush administration wants to make special exemption in international non-proliferation laws for India but needs to persuade the Nuclear Suppliers Group, which regulates global trade of nuclear material.

Russia and France have deals similar to Washington`s.
