Dolár alebo Yuan?
Krátkodobo môže v globálnom meradle byť US dolár ešte stále silnejší, avšak dlhodobo sa váha asi prenesie na čínsky yuan.
The subprime loan crisis might one day be regarded as the beginning of the end of the era in which the dollar reigned supreme as the world's key currency, said the chief economist of Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Co.
"The ongoing depreciation of the dollar illustrates that the international community has begun seeking a new world order," Kazuo Mizuno said in Tokyo. "People in the future will look back at the subprime shock as the cause of the end of the strong dollar-based currency regime."
Dino Kos, managing director of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, said the dollar would remain the key currency in the short term, although he suggested the Chinese yuan might hold a stronger position in the long term.
"In my view, the dollar's position looks very secure...for the next decade or so," he said. "But one has to consider the possibility that China, in particular, could play a bigger role in global affairs. That might include a bigger role for the currency."
