Počas posledných dvoch rokov sa obchod medzi Čínou a Latinskou Amerikou zvýšil o 50%. Krajiny bohaté na prírodné zdroje takto posilňujúm svoje ekonomiky čínskymi financiami. Najnovšie Uruguaj podpísal kontrakt na vývoz sójových bobov, bavlny a papierovej drviny.
