Meď, nikel a farmári
Čo má spoločné meď, nikel a farmári? Za normálnych podmienok strašne málo. Avšak v súčasnom ekonomicky turbulentnom období skupujú farmári v Číne meď a nikel ako určitú formu zábezpeky a investície. Jednoducho dobre uložené peniaze - hmotné peniaze.
A lot of base metals that China imports is being stockpiled in government warehouses. But not all of it. Hog producers and others are buying physical nickel and copper as an investment.
According to a recent report by China Central Television (CCTV), residents in rural areas have been accumulating physical copper in recent months, in quantities ranging from a few tonnes to a few hundred tonnes.
But it seems all that metal isn't being used to make cars and refrigerators. It is estimated that commercial stockpiling by both state-owned enterprises and Chinese residents could account for at least 300,000 to 350,000 tonnes of copper, if not more.
