STRIEBRO – rok 2008 by mal byť pozitívny
Očakáva sa, že striebro v roku 2008 dosiahne priemernú cenu takmer 15,00 USD za uncu. Zlato by mohlo zhodnotiť až 25%.
Silver is expected to gain in 2008 on the same inflation worries that are driving gold—both are seen as a hedge. But an oversupply of silver could constrain gains, analysts say.
Besides jewelry, silver is used in electronics, dentistry, and other commercial applications. Higher prices have boosted mining of various metals. This has raised the supply of silver, typically a byproduct.
In 2007, silver prices gained 15 percent, less than half the gain of gold and platinum, making it “something of a Cinderella, albeit with less chance, in our view, of making it to the ball,” writes Barclays Capital analyst Kevin Norrish. He believes silver will average $14.90 per ounce in 2008, up 11 percent from 2007 and gold will rise about 21 percent. MKS Finance SA analysts are more bullish, and expect $16 per ounce for silver, a gain of 19.4 percent, in 2008. They expect gold to rise 25 percent.
Silver mining shares, held by precious metals mutual funds, are another way to play the metal. CIBC World Markets analyst Brad Humphrey likes Pan American Silver (PAAS), rating it “sector outperformer,” on growing production. But RBC Capital Markets analyst Michael Curran rates Silver Wheaton Corp.
