The question is whether now is a good time to buy into gold, and if its price can soar again. Of course, its price is also largely determined by supply and demand - and, put simply, there is limited supply but big demand, says Peter Hambro, the founder of Hambro Mining, the second-largest gold producer in Russia. “There is a strong case for people buying into gold as a reserve asset right now, as the cost of bringing on new production is so great that it simply won’t happen, and so the price is likely to be supported and rise,” he says.
