V USA je v ohrození bankrotu až 700 bánk resp. jedna z jedenástich, čo je najväčší počet od roku 1993. Mená bánk nie sú verejnosti zverejnené, aby náhodou nenastala panika a ľudia nezačali vyberať svoje vklady.
