Tórium (striebrobiely kov)je rozšírenejší, produkuje manej odpadu, je menej nebezpečný ako urán a je to veľký zdroj energie, tvrdia jeho zástancovia. Navyše neprodukuje škodliviny, ktoré by napomáhali vytváraniu skleníkových efektov.
